How we started

July, 2004 to present

We are a small farm located in Upper Bucks County Pa. and the business consists of  lessons ,boarding, sales, and summer clinics .  The facility has a 19 stall barn consisting of 10 x 12 stalls, a wash stall with hot and cold running water. a heated tack room, with a bathroom and kitchen area.   There is a lighted all weather riding ring consisting of sand, screening and rubber.  From the year 2004 forward  we've done landscaping and fencing and upgraded the old barn. We feed Nutrina Feed  from KT Saddlery and a good quality  timothy /alfalfa hay.  Stalls are cleaned daily ,and all of the horses are on daily turnout.  We have been in the horse business for over 40 years and are involved with a lot of equine rescues.  Our goal is to rehab the horse back from injuries to good health and then find a loving and caring owner.    We have rescued and found homes for many horses and will continue to do that.

Joan and Joanne have always had a love of horses. We have both worked very hard over the years working at different farms learning management procedures and the care and responsibilities of owning a farm.   Coming from a horse related background  helped us put together the farm we have today known as Diamond J Farm.  Over the past years we have been involved with  Hunters , Jumpers, and western riding. Our backgrounds come from riding since early childhood.   My father was a farrier and worked on hunters and jumpers at local farms then in later years went to work at the race track with the Standardbreds.   He was involved with corrective shoeing and worked very close with the veterinarians and trainers.   He had many apprentices under him who are still in the business.  In 1986 he passed away but his memory lives on.  There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him.

Some of our accomplishments have been owning many horses and training them for different events.  Trooper , our appaloosa gelding , has been successfully shown up and down the east coast in the appaloosa breed shows.  We were top ten in the nation in English equitation in the early 90's.   My daughter, Joanne, has qualified  our two horses for the world in suitability for dressage and  continues to do  Hunters & Jumpers and Gymkana.   From the breed shows we did the winter circuit of Jumpers in New Jersey in the Pre Preliminary classes.  From there we have done the local shows in gymkhana and western equitation and pleasure.  I have always loved the appaloosa's for their color and disposition and color.  We are now working with thoroughbreds and the natural horsemanship method is working very well with them. Getting the horse to use the thinking side of their brain instead of the reactive side is a big key to gymkhana.   We are having so much fun doing team penning with friends and students.   We have many motivated students and great horses.

July 2010
We just got back from a Clinton Anderson Clinic in Harrisburg.    His methods work by getting a horse to use the thinking side of his brain instead of the reactive side .  We have been following his method for over a year now and it has made a big difference in all of our horses on the ground and under saddle.  No matter what type of riding you do you can use his technique.   Downunder horsemanship is a inspiration to all of us here at Diamond J Farm.

I want to thank all of my friends and boarders for all the help and support they have given me over the past few years.   My family has been an inspiration to me.

Jamie and Dave have helped me through some difficult times in my life and who are giving us our future leadline rider, Audrey.  She has already started riding her gray pony with the help of her Mom and Dad.    I could not have done it without all of you.
